Lower East Side Restaurant : Practice LLC

This restaurant occupies 900 square feet in Manhattan's Lower East Side, including a 500 square foot outdoor garden. The restaurant balances historic references of the surrounding neighborhood with a slight Asian inflection, echoing the menu of Southeast Asian fusion cuisine. Two linear banquettess line the main wall; their wood-slat construction draws on late nineteenth century construction techniques, while floating planes of reed thatch provide a backdrop for extended-arm wall sconce lighting. The open kitchen is fronted with a linear dining counter, providing variety in seating types. In the rear of the restaurant an outdoor garden is covered with a simple trellis of ivy, creating a comfortable dining and socializing space- a local neighborhood hangout evocative of a more tropical environment.

Project currently under construction with a planned opening in July 2012.
